ABOUT
Joel Hines has spent more than 25 years working at the intersection of human development, education, and wellbeing, from acute mental health settings to school leadership, rites of passage and emotional intelligence development. That breadth of experience has given him a rare ability to understand what families, and particularly boys, are navigating in today's world.
As a former school principal, and having facilitated workshops with over 2000 teenage boys, as well as being a father himself, Joel brings both professional insight and lived experience to every talk he delivers. He knows schools. He knows boys. And he knows what parents are quietly worrying about.
Joel's talks for parent communities sit at the heart of his work, his dedication to authentic connection, human development, and helping the people thrive. His keynote Parenting Boys in a Digital Age draws on research, real stories, and practical frameworks to help parents feel more informed, more confident, and more connected to their sons.
His 2023 TEDx talk "Our Stories Connect Us" has resonated with audiences worldwide, and his book Holding Space explores the art of human connection in depth. While his new book Holding Space for Your Son delivers actionable strategies that parents can put into practice immediately.
But Joel's real gift is making complex ideas feel immediately useful, his content is warm, evidence-based, and genuinely actionable.
Whether you're a parent wondering how to reach your teenage son, or a school looking to bring your community together around the challenges of raising boys today, Joel meets every audience exactly where they are.
